The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is moving ahead with the construction of Line-12 (Orange Line) of the Mumbai Metro, which will connect Kalyan – Dombivali – Taloja through 17 stations.
The new line will be an elevated extension, estimated at Rs 4,132 crore, joining the partially under-construction 24.95 km Line-5 (Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan).
MMRDA has now invited bids for the civil construction work of Line-12 through two packages: CA-185 and CA-186.
While Package CA-185 involves the construction of an elevated viaduct, Package CA-186 includes eight elevated stations and the construction of an elevated viaduct.
The estimated cost for Package CA-185 is Rs. 783 crores, and for Package CA-186, it is Rs. 738.80 crores. The work period for both packages is 30 months.
Bids for Mumbai Metro Line-12 Kalyan-Taloja civil work are open until April 12th, 2023, 5:00 PM.
The bid opening for Package CA-185 and CA-186 will take place on April 17th, 2023, at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, respectively.
Architectural finishing and PEB steel roof structure bids for stations will be invited at a later stage. Line-12 will include 17 stations, with planned stops at Ganesh Nagar, Pisvali Gaon, Golavali, Dombivli MIDC, Sagaon, Sonarpada, Manpada, Hedutane, Kolegaon, Nilaje Gaon, Vadavali, Bale, Waklan, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot, Pisarve, and Taloja.
The planned depot location for Line-12 was initially Pisarve, but it has been moved to Vadavali with the addition of Package CA-186.
Recently, in December 2022, SYSTRA MVA Consulting – DB Engineering & Consulting JV won the General Consultant contract for both Line-10 and Line-12. Currently, bids are being accepted for appointing a Detailed Design Consultant (DDC), with MMRDA scheduled to announce the selected bidder on March 20th.
Once completed, Line-12 is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the Kalyan – Taloja area, providing a faster and more convenient mode of transportation for locals. The civil work of Line-12 will also create job opportunities and foster economic growth in the region.
