Fans of cricket were surprised today to hear that the Indian cricket team’s captain, Rohit Sharma, got not just one but three tickets for going too fast on the busy Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This all happened just before a big match between India and Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Going Too Fast:
According to PuneMirror, Rohit Sharma’s fancy Lamborghini Urus was seen going as fast as 215 km/h on several occasions on the expressway. This is a lot faster than the 100 km/h speed limit on that road. To put it simply, he was driving his super fancy car more than twice as fast as he should have been.
Three Tickets Issued:
As a result, the traffic folks gave him three tickets for driving too fast. But, since he’s a famous cricket player, he probably won’t bother him too much.
Safety Worries During World Cup:
This situation has made people worry about safety, especially during the World Cup. Someone from the Traffic Department is concerned that the cricket captain drove so fast on a very busy road. They’re suggesting that, because this is such an important event and the cricket team is a big deal, it would have been better for Rohit Sharma to travel in the team bus, maybe even with a police car to make sure he is safe.
Remembering Past Incidents:
This also reminds us of another time when something bad happened because of speeding. Last year, Rishabh Pant, who’s also a famous cricket player, got into a bad accident because he fell asleep while driving his fancy Mercedes-Benz SUV. He crashed into something going really fast, and the car started on fire. But, luckily, he got away okay and is getting better.
During all the excitement of the World Cup, this is a good reminder that even famous cricket players need to follow the rules of the road. As cricket fans get ready for the India vs. Bangladesh match, they’re also hoping that their captain, Rohit Sharma, will be more careful when he’s driving.
