The Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane districts of Maharashtra are under a “yellow alert” for Sunday, July 27, 2025, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), โthe average rainfall from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. was 6.80 mm for Mumbai City, 11.53 mm for the Eastern suburb, and 7.42 mm for the Western suburbโ.
Palghar district was under a red warning on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad were under an orange warning. In the meantime, the Narmada River overflowed on Saturday night, July 26, 2025, when torrential rainfall flooded the Jogitikariya bridge on the Dindori – Jabalpur route in Madhya Pradesh. The team from the State Disaster Response Force was on the scene. Traffic from both sides has been rerouted because of the river’s flow across the Jogitikariya bridge, Dindori Sub-divisional Police Officer Satish Dwivedi told ANI.
โThe Narmada River is in spate. The river is flowing over the Jogitikariya bridge. Traffic from both sides has been diverted… Adequate security arrangements have been made here. Police, Home Guard, and SDRF teams are deployed,โ Mr. Dwivedi told ANI.

It is very likely to continue to move westwards across Madhya Pradesh and weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area by tomorrow, the 27th July, 2025,โ the IMD said in a post on X.
Vihar received 29 mm, while Tulsi recorded 66 mm among the smaller lakes. With Bhatsa, the city’s biggest contributor, currently operating at 87.46 percent capacity, water levels are steadily rising. While the Bhatsa dam gates were partially opened to control flow, BMC authorities observed that Tansa, Modak Sagar, and Upper Vaitarna had begun to overflow. On July 27, the Bhandup Complex alone received 45 mm of rain, bringing the monsoon season’s total to 1,221 mm.
A red alert, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall and a high potential for cloud-to-ground lightning activity, has been issued for the districts of Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli in interior Maharashtra, as well as North Seoni, Mandla/Kanha, South Khandwa, and South Khargone in Madhya Pradesh.
An orange alert is in effect for parts of east Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan, south Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, south Kerala, south Chhattisgarh, southeast Uttar Pradesh (Kanpur), south Punjab, south Haryana as well as Gangetic West Bengal due to moderate rainfall and cloud-to-ground lightning.
