About Metro Line 1

Route explained

Line 1 starts at Versova near the coast in Andheri (West), runs east along J P Road and Andheri–Kurla Road past Andheri station, crosses the Western Express Highway, and continues through Chakala, Marol and Saki Naka along Andheri–Ghatkopar Link Road to Ghatkopar station.

Why Line 1 matters

Before 2014, crossing between Andheri and Ghatkopar meant a slow bus or road trip of up to 90 minutes. Line 1 was the first rail link between the Western and Central lines in the suburbs, and today it is the hub that connects Lines 2A, 3 and 7.
