Interchange stations
Dahisar (East)
Northern terminus and a three-line hub. Change to Line 7 for the Western Express Highway and Andheri (East), or Line 9 for Mira-Bhayandar.
Andheri (West)
Southern terminus. Change to Line 1 (Blue Line) for Versova, Andheri station and Ghatkopar. Line 2B will continue from here towards Bandra and BKC.
Lower Oshiwara
Future interchange with Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar – Vikhroli) once it opens.

Timeline
- 2015MMRDA approves the Dahisar – D.N. Nagar corridor; foundation stone laid in October.
- November 2016Construction begins.
- 2019 – 2021Original deadlines missed; the COVID-19 pandemic delays work further. Trial runs begin in May 2021.
- 2 April 2022Phase 1 (Dahisar East – Dahanukarwadi, 9 stations) opens together with Line 7.
- 19 January 2023Phase 2 (Valnai–Meeth Chowky – Andheri West, 8 stations) opens; the line is fully operational.
- April 2026Line 9 opens from Dahisar (East), making it a three-line interchange.
- NextLine 2B extension from D.N. Nagar towards Bandra, BKC and Mandale (partly open in the east).
About Metro Line 2A
Route explained
Line 2A runs almost entirely along Link Road, parallel to the Western Railway and to Line 7 on the Western Express Highway. It starts at Dahisar (East), passes Anand Nagar, Kandarpada and Mandapeshwar, then serves Borivali (West), Kandivali (West), Malad (West), Goregaon (West) and the Oshiwara–Lokhandwala area before ending at Andheri (West) near D.N. Nagar.
Together with Line 7, it gives the western suburbs two north–south metro corridors as an alternative to crowded local trains and the congested Link Road and S.V. Road.

Depot, trains & signalling
Line 2A trains are maintained at the Charkop depot (about 16 hectares), which it shares with Line 7. The line uses six-coach, India-built BEML stainless-steel trains with regenerative braking, each carrying around 1,660 passengers, and Alstom CBTC signalling.
Construction history
Line 2A was planned as part of a Dahisar – Bandra – Mankhurd Line 2, later split into Line 2A (Dahisar – D.N. Nagar) and Line 2B (D.N. Nagar – Mandale). Construction began in November 2016 at an estimated cost of about ₹6,410 crore, funded partly by the state government and partly by an Asian Development Bank loan. After missing its 2019 and 2020 targets, the line opened in two phases in April 2022 and January 2023.
