Before you call

  • Stay calm and say where you are first: the area, a landmark and the nearest station help the team reach you faster.
  • Emergency numbers are free to call from any phone.
  • Save the key numbers (112, 108, 101 and your electricity supplier) in your phone contacts.
  • Keep the line free after you call, as the control room may call you back.
  • Do not make hoax calls. They delay help for people in real danger and are an offence.

FAQs

What is the single emergency number in Mumbai?

Dial 112. It is India’s single emergency number and, in Maharashtra, it connects you to the police control room, which can send police help and pass the call on to fire or ambulance services. Calls are free.

What is the ambulance number in Mumbai?

Dial 108 for a free emergency ambulance run by the Maharashtra government. 102 is mainly for pregnant women and newborns going to and from government hospitals.

What is the women’s helpline number in Mumbai?

Dial 1091 for the women’s helpline, or 181 for the women’s helpline that gives support and advice. In immediate danger, dial 112.

How do I report online fraud in Mumbai?

Call 1930 as soon as possible, ideally within an hour, so the bank can try to freeze the money. Then file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in.

Whom do I call for a power cut in Mumbai?

It depends on your supplier. BEST serves South and central Mumbai, Adani Electricity serves most suburbs, Tata Power serves some areas, and MSEDCL serves parts of Bhandup, Mulund, Thane and Navi Mumbai. The number is printed on your electricity bill.

What should I do if I smell a gas leak?

Do not switch any lights or appliances on or off, and do not light a match. Turn off the regulator, open doors and windows, leave the area and call the emergency number of your gas supplier from outside: 1906 for LPG, or Mahanagar Gas for piped gas.

Last checked: 2 November 2026. Numbers can change, so if a number does not work, dial 112.
