Commuters who have been using Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 for their daily travel can now expect a smoother ride experience during the peak hours. The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced an update; starting January 20, metro trains will run every ten minutes during the morning and evening peak hours.
Metro Line 1 started its operation on November 17, 2023, and now it connects some significant spots such as Belapur’s central business district, Taloja’s bustling industrial centre, along with a number of housing complexes built by the CIDCO.
The metro’s strong ridership since its beginning has contributed a lot to this improvement in order to better fulfill the needs of the passengers.
“The metro services have been receiving overwhelming response from passengers. To facilitate additional metro services and ease travel during peak hours, a revised timetable of metro services will be introduced from January 20,” said a CIDCO official.
Updated Schedule Timings for Navi Mumbai Metro:
According to the updated schedule, trains from Belapur and Pendhar stations will begin this service at 6:00 AM. The final train will leave Belapur at 10:00 p.m. and Pendhar at 9:45 p.m. At Belapur, trains will now be running at 10-minute intervals from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM during the peak hours. At Pendhar station, The peak hours are from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM and then from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. But trains will arrive after every 15 minutes as usual during those off-peak hours.
It is also expected that this action will decrease traffic, speed up travel, and significantly enhance commuting between CBD Belapur and Pendhar in Navi Mumbai.
