The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to open the first phase of Metro Line-9 by next year.
Benefits of the Metro Line-9 Project
The Metro Line-9 corridor will connect Mumbai with Mira-Bhayandar, reducing congestion at Dahisar toll naka.
This entry point to the city has been a major cause of traffic jams, which is why the new route is highly anticipated.
The line will also benefit people in Mira Road and Kashimira, who will be able to travel to Andheri (E) or Andheri (W) using existing Metro lines 7 and 2A.
Stages of Completion
The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will run from Dahisar (E) to Kashigaon, while the second phase will extend to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.
There is also a possibility of extending the line further by 1.5-2 km to Uttan, where an alternative land is being scouted for a car shed.
The Meditiya Nagar station is one of the highest on the Metro-9, and its construction is now 63.63% complete.
The station will have three tiers, with a vehicular flyover on level one, a concourse on level two, and a platform on level three.
The total height of the station will be 35 meters from the road level. Of the eight stations in the project, 51% of station work has been completed.
Expected Timeline
Phase one of the Metro Line-9 route is expected to be operational by the end of next year.
Sources say that initially, three to four rakes will be required to open the first phase of the line. The deadline to complete the entire corridor work is December 2025.
