Mumbai Metro: 25% Fare Concession on Two Lines from 1st May

Mumbai: Mеtro Linе-10 to Fеaturе Doublе-Dеckеr Dеsign, Expеctеd by 2027

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a significant concession in fares for citizens who use Mumbai Metro lines 2A and 7.

Effective from May 1, 2023, senior citizens above the age of 65 years, students up to Class 12, and persons with disabilities, also known as Divyang, will be eligible for a 25% discount on fares.

This is a welcome move, as the cost of living in Mumbai has been increasing, making it difficult for many people to afford the city’s public transportation system.

With the fare concession, the Mumbai Metro will become even more affordable for a large section of the city’s population.

Who Can Avail of the Concession?

The concession is available to senior citizens above the age of 65 years, students up to Class 12, and persons with disabilities.

Additionally, holders of the National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai One) can avail of the discount on their 45 or 60-trip passes.

In order to be eligible for the discount, individuals with disabilities (divyang persons) will be required to present valid documentation such as medical or government certificates verifying their disability.

Senior citizens must provide proof of age, and students will need to show their or their parent’s PAN card in addition to their school ID.

You can show these documents at any ticket window along Line 2A and 7.

CM Shinde Calls the Move a Gift to Mumbai Residents

The Chief Minister, Shinde, described this action as a present to the people of Mumbai from the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), according to an official statement.

These two organizations operate and maintain Metro Lines 2A and 7.

The concession will provide much-needed relief to thousands of commuters who use these two lines daily.

Other Concessions by the Maharashtra Government

CM Shinde has been working on providing concessions and benefits to Mumbai residents for a while now.

Under his government, senior citizens can travel for free on state transport buses, and women are eligible for a 50% discount on bus fares.

These measures aim to make public transport more affordable and accessible to everyone in Mumbai.
