BPCL Launches Fast-Charging for e-vehicles on 6 Highway Corridors

In a major boost for India’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has launched six EV fast-charging stations on highways in Maharashtra.

The charging stations can recharge EVs in just 30 minutes and offer a driving range of up to 125 kilometers.

This initiative aims to remove range anxiety for EV owners, who can now travel long distances on highways without worrying about running out of charge.

The six highways in Maharashtra where the charging stations have been installed are Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad (240 KMs), Pune-Solapur (4 ROs) (250 KMs), Pune-Nashik (4 ROs) (200 KMs), Pune-Kolhapur (3 RO s) (225 KMs), Mumbai-Nashik (3 RO s) (200KMs), and Nashik-Shirdi (3 RO s) (90 KMS).

The distance between the two charging stations on these highways has been kept within 100 kilometers, making it easy for EV owners to plan their journeys.

BPCL plans to install EV fast-charging stations on 200 highways in India by March 2023 under its brand eDrive, which carries the tagline Clean. Fast. Easy.

The company aims to support and accelerate the growth of the EV industry in India by providing reliable and convenient charging infrastructure.

The launch of these charging stations was inaugurated by Shri Sanjeev Agrawal, Executive Director (Engg & Automation, Retail), in the presence of other senior officials.

The fuel stations also offer added conveniences to consumers, such as clean washrooms, safe and secure parking, free digital air facility, and 24-hour operations.

This initiative is expected to encourage more people to adopt EVs, as they can now travel long distances without worrying about charging infrastructure.

It will also help reduce the carbon footprint of transportation in India, as EVs emit fewer greenhouse gases than traditional vehicles.

The launch of these charging stations by BPCL in Maharashtra is a significant step towards achieving India’s goal of 100% electric mobility by 2030.

This move is expected to encourage other companies to invest in EV charging infrastructure in the country, thereby accelerating the growth of the EV industry.

The Indian government has been actively promoting the use of electric vehicles to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and decrease its dependence on fossil fuels.

By providing reliable and convenient charging infrastructure, companies like BPCL are helping to address the range anxiety that has been a major barrier to EV adoption.

With the installation of fast-charging stations on highways, EV owners can now travel long distances without worrying about running out of charge.

This initiative is expected to play a vital role in India’s transition to a cleaner and greener future.
